The Heavenly Gift

Today I prayed to see the Savior's face,

Because this world has become such an awful place.

I cried to find my forgotten inner peace.

That the turmoil I feel would finally cease.

My mind looked at all the things I've done,

At failures that outweigh the few battles won.

Reminded of those I've accidentally hurt,

And others I forced right into the dirt.

If you truly reap what you sow,

Then I may be my greatest foe.

Then at once that still, small voice said,

(You know, a voice from outside of my head.)

"My little one, my child, don't you fret."

"For you are not lost entirely, yet."

"I’ve given everything you’ve ever needed.”

“An angel that cheered when you’ve succeeded.”

“She watched over your shaking, wobbling first step.”

“And also when you had a cold, the flu or strep.”

“She called to me as you left her protected care.”

“Prayer that still goes with you everywhere.”

“More so, she’s cried for all your broken deeds”

“And for your heart’s overgrown, winding weeds.”

“Her prayers to Heaven have reached my ears,

asking that I heal your soul’s awful fears.”

“So as you look to me for solace and hope.”

“There’s no need for you to grumble and mope.”

“If you want to see hope, beauty and grace,

and the peace that comes when you see my face”

“Remember the gift you have been given!”

“An angel bestowed on you, straight from Heaven.”

“She’s got my hope, beauty and grace.”

“It is engraven on her glorious face!”

As these words were spoken into my soul,

My heart and mind were suddenly made whole.

On my knees I gave thanks to my Older Brother.

Because his great gift to me is my Beloved MOTHER.
